Feay comes to The Marshall Project from The Atlantic, where she was a newsroom developer. There, she was part of the team that worked on Caitlin Dickerson’s Pulitzer-winning investigation of the Department of Homeland Security and its family separation and incarceration policies under the Trump administration. More recently, she built a searchable database of all the copyrighted material used by AI companies. Previously, Feay was part of the team at Vox that built the open-source tool Autotune.

“Aithne’s impressive body of editorial work is only her most visible talent. She is an excellent product thinker and software architect as well. We are lucky to have her on the team,” said Gabe Isman, Director of Technology.

“We are thrilled to welcome such an innovative, accomplished developer to help us expand the ambition and reach of our journalism and tools,” said Susan Chira, editor-in-chief.

Feay lives in Brooklyn, and she is a regular contributor to bicycling.com.

Her first day with The Marshall Project is Feb. 12.
